Dechreuodd
Rhidian chwarae rygbi i dim Ysgol Pennant yng nghystadleuaethau
y cylch a thu hwnt. Dangosodd dipyn o addewid yr adeg hynny ac
mae Rhidian wedi gweithio'n galed i gynnal a chodi ei safonau.
Ar hyn o bryd mae Rhidian Harries yn chwarae rygbi i dim Castell
Newydd Emlyn ond mae Rhidian hefyd yn chwarae yn nhimau Rhanbarth
Llanelli ac Ysgolion Ceredigion. Yn ystod ei yrfa mae Rhidian
wedi bod yn gapten ar dim 'Presidents 15' i bobl ifanc o dan 16
oed ond uchafbwyntiau ei yrfa hyd hyn yw cynrychioli Cymru ar
lefel genedlaethol. Cafodd ei gap cyntaf yn erbyn Yr Eidal a chwaraeodd
yn erbyn Lloegr yn Leicester. Mae Rhidian yn golygu dilyn cwrs
gwaith plymwr yng Ngholeg Llanelli ble mae ef eisioes wedi derbyn
ysgoloriaeth i'r Academi Rygbi.
Rachel Marfleet
started her interest in running by competing in the Ceredigion
Primary Schools Cross-Country Championships for Pennant School.
She joined Carmarthen Harriers and trained with other local Aberaeron
youngsters, under coach Kevin Evans before he moved to Llanelli,
and now under coach Roger Davey of Aberath. This year she came
second in the Junior Girls in the Welsh Schools Cross-Country
and was selected to represent Welsh Schools at the Schools International
Championships held in Ayr, Scotland. Against some very strong
competition from England, Scotland and Ireland, she was pleased
with a credible 23rd position. The following week she represented
Welsh Schools in the London Mini-Marathon, run over the final
2.65miles of the main marathon course and was pleased with 15th
position. She is now hoping for a successful track season, having
got the Bronze medal at 1500m in the U15 girls event at the Welsh
Indoor Championships earlier in the year.
The staff
and governors of Pennant School are very pleased with Rachel and
Rhidian's achievements and wish them the very best for the future.
